Section Meeting: SAE Student Competition

Meeting Time: 5:30 pm for Team Sign Up for speaking order.
Free Pizza and Pop will be served until 6:15
Competition Starts: at 6:15 pm
Meeting Place: Colorado School of Mines
The CTLM Building - Room 102

As many of you may already know, our national SAE organization sponsors collegiate team competition in the design and construction of several different types of mechanical devices. This competition is intended to give these young engineers an opportunity to experience many of the issues they will face as designers in the real world. Not only do the students have to face the technical trade offs that are always present in a design, but also they get early exposure to the importance of both budgets and schedules to their overall project.
Another requirement that each competing team must fulfill is a verbal presentation of their project program. Each presentation will provide an overview of their project goals, approaches taken in overcoming obstacles, accomplishments, and their ability to manage their project budget and schedule.
Come and join us at the Colorado School of Mines CTLM Lecture Hall for these presentations being made by our future outstanding engineers of Colorado. We will have several teams competing at this competition in all of the following events, Aero Lift, Mini-Baja (racing car), Formula SAE (racing car), and Walking Machine.
Come early for some pizza and pop in the foyer outside of the 102 Lecture Hall.

Message from the Chair:
Your Colorado Section has long promoted and supported our Colorado students in the SAE Competition. This section, for as long as I am aware, has provided prize money to the SAE Team participants to help pay for their project and competition costs. This year, we will be providing over $2,000 among all of the Colorado teams.

The funds that we use come directly from a portion of each paid member's annual membership fee. If you have not done so, please make your membership payment. You can do it online, click MySAE at:
