Newport Antique Auto
Hill Climb

The Newport Antique Auto Hill Climb consists of timed competition runs over the famed 1,800-foot-long, 140-foot-high Newport Hill.  The competition includes 28 classes for antique cars, 1942 and older, plus discontinued makes (discontinued before 1970) through 1955 along with car classes up to 1970.  New this year - motorcycles 1919 or older.

This 37th Annual Newport Antique Auto Hill Climb (October 1, 2, & 3) is sponsored by the NEWPORT LIONS CLUB, P.O Box 398, Newport, Indiana 47966 (765-492-4220, www.newporthillclimb.com).  The Indiana Section of SAE will be on hand, Sunday, October 3, 2004, to take part in the festivities and to watch the competition.

The Section has secured a room at the Newport American Legion Hall.  A nominal donation from those associated with SAE ($2.00) will help to defray the cost of the room (this includes access to indoor restrooms).  A meal consisting of a BBQ pork sandwich, baked beans, and coleslaw will be available to those associated with the Indiana Section of SAE for $5.00 from the Lions Club.  If BBQ pork is not your cup of tea, there will be a variety of vendors on site with food offerings sure to please.

Come on out and bring the family to a different kind of SAE meeting.  Enjoy a Sunday afternoon watching antique automobiles navigating the famed Newport Hill!
