4:00 Seminar - = Throughput=20 Financial Analysis and Production Planning

 

Throughput financial analysis is a technique that = will aid in=20 economic decisions of buying new equipment. The analysis will also be = helpful on=20 "improvement" projects.  = The 5=20 focusing steps presented give effective guidelines for approaching the = strategic=20 managerial financial decisions and the day-to-day tactical decisions of = an=20 organization.

 

Howard D. = Meeks

 

Howard is an Academic Associate of the Abraham Y. = Goldratt=20 Institute (AGI). He is a Jonah's fellow certified to deliver AGI = programs in=20 Production, Project Management, Distribution, and Management Skills. He=20 presently teaches interdisciplinary TOC courses in the Industrial and=20 Manufacturing Systems Engineering Department for the Colleges of = Engineering,=20 Business, and Education at ISU. He has been involved in teaching = Production,=20 Project Management, Distribution, Management Skills and a course that = includes=20 the Jonah Program. He has been teaching these courses since Fall = semester=20 1997.

 

Howard received a BS in = Aeronautical=20 Engineering from Iowa State University in 1960. After graduation he = worked at=20 Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. He was involved in research and = the=20 evaluation team (F AA, NASA, and USAF) for the Supersonic Transport = (SST). He=20 completed an MS in Mathematics at Ohio State University in 1966. He then = worked=20 at North American Aviation, Columbus Division as an aerospace engineer = and=20 received his Ph. D. in Industrial Engineering with a specialization in=20 Operations Research from Ohio State in 1970.

 

In 1970 Howard became a faculty member in the = Industrial=20 Engineering Department at Iowa State University. He is a co-author of = the text,=20 Applied Linear Optimization, and developed graduate = courses in=20 mathematical programming for the IE Department. He has consulted with = Ruan=20 Transportation, Iowa Department of Transportation, and Johnson Wax of = Racine,=20 Wisconsin.
